Lyran
Parent Co-op Lyran is a preschool in Göteborg that started in the fall of 1989. Our goal is for the children to thrive and be happy, so that together, through play and learning, we give the children a nice group community and a good start in life. Having your children at a föreldrakooperativ preschool differs from a municipal one in that staff and parents run the business together.
We want to give the children security and harmony, as well as stimulate the children's self-development, language development, motor development, consideration and camaraderie.

Every morning we gather to start the day. We talk, sing, discuss, tell stories, listen, dance, jump, etc. It strengthens our group spirit.
Morning Meeting
We work with longer and shorter projects that are based on the children's interests and our everyday life. The children inspire the activities and the educators are responsive to ideas from both children and parents.
Subjects
All children need to rest for a while in the middle of the day, to cope with the afternoon. The smallest children sleep together with an adult and the others wind down to a fairy tale.
Resting
It can be nice to get to know more friends before school starts, that's why the friends club exists! The club consists of the five- and six-year-olds from several cooperatives in the area, they usually meet once a month.

The entire castle forest is our backyard and we are out in different places, especially in the forest, every day. Outside you can run fast, shout, climb, jump, build huts etc. Here the children are given the opportunity to move freely.
Excursions
Together with an educator, the "middle children" explore the exciting things that our district has to offer.

Children's most important work is to play. During play, children process events and experiences, and train their independence.
Free Play
Once a week, the older children go to Valhalla together with a teacher and a parent to attend the swimming school there. A favorite day for many!

Pedagogy
Joyful learning is a watchword in our business, where the children's curiosity, joy of discovery and creativity drive us forward. All children participate according to their ability and are given influence over the activity by paying attention to their interests and ideas and giving them space. It can lead to thematic works about big and small, from space to insects.
We have a mixed age group of children, this creates a dynamic where children learn from each other through their experiences and where care is expressed, among other things, in the children's actions towards each other. Free play is a large part of the educational activity, in which the children develop an understanding of social codes and practice their communicative abilities. The game gives life to the children's experiences and knowledge through imagination and creativity.
Play, safety, pedagogy, flexibility, commitment, curiosity and democracy are concepts that make Lyran just Lyran.
Olle
Educator and principal
Olle has many years of experience in parent cooperatives, and since 2012, he has been involved in developing Lyran into the preschool it is today.
Julius
Educator
Julius qualified as a preschool teacher in 2022 and has a background in the fashion industry and as a musician. Julius is passionate about spontaneous learning and sees it as Lyran's task to create curiosity in the children. Julius uses music and conversation as his primary tools.
Ida
Childcare provider
Ida has worked as a childcarer since 2011 and is passionate about creating inspiring learning environments together with the children. Ida activates the children's creativity with experiments and uses natural materials in creative creation.
Chaza
Chef
Chaza is responsible for the kitchen and grocery shopping, and prepares varied food with great love, which she adapts to the children's different diets. She lovingly alternates familiar and challenging flavors, and the children learn to appreciate many different kinds of food.
Parents Involvement
Having your children in a parent cooperative means that staff and parents work together. It's fun to get involved and be an active part of our children's everyday life! In addition, we parents get close to each other, just like the children. The families try to get together sometime per term and do something fun together, in between we usually meet at Lyran for some After-Lyran mingling.
Every family works (is the house elf!) about one afternoon every three weeks at Lyran. Santa comes to Lyran at 15.30 and is an extra resource in the children's group until Lyran closes.

After closing, Santa cleans the premises according to a rolling schedule, a cleaning company comes three times a week, so on these days the cleaning part is smaller.

In addition to the rolling cleaning schedule, the parents need to attend member meetings and the annual meeting
Member meetings
Parents also get involved via roles in the association such as e.g. chairman of the board, secretary, accountant / finance manager, IT manager, schedule manager, recruitment manager and fix / construction.
